Operation Med School (OMS) is a not-for-profit organization that organizes and holds one-day conferences in various cities in Canada and the United States of America tailored towards passionate high school students aspiring to become the next generation of healthcare providers.

At OMS, attendees will discover more about the various topics of medicine through informative keynote presentations, hands-on workshops, and engaging activities led by doctors, biomedical researchers, and other professionals within the medical field.

OMS is entirely run by students on two levels—the individual conferences and the organization.

  1. The conferences in each of the cities are organized and run by high school students that have been recruited during the previous spring recruitment season.
  2. A centralized executive team consisting of members who have previously served in the city teams supports the city teams and works on expanding the organization.

Currently in Canada, we have conferences in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, and Ottawa. In the US, we have conferences in New York. We will be gradually expanding into more cities.

If you are interested in starting a conference in your city, please email your proposal to hello@operationmedschool.com. Please use “Proposal for New OMS Conference in (city name)” as the title for your email to ensure a prompt reply from us.

 

We advise attendees to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the start of the event for registration.

As we host public events, we ask that attendees wear clothing with no inappropriate logos or phrases. You will be asked to leave if you fail to comply.

There is no age requirement, but you do need to be a student. Photo Identification from your educational institution will be required if prompted by an OMS team member.

First of all, you can attend any one of our conferences! Most of our team members have attended our conferences before they applied to join our team.

If you are a high school student in any of the cities we currently have conferences, check our application portal after a conference as we will be posting applications for high school students to join city teams. Typically, applications will be open around April-June depending on the city team.

Refunds will only be processed up to two weeks prior to the conference electronically via PayPal. An administrative fee of $0.30 (CAD or USD) will apply to all refund requests due to PayPal’s processing fees for refunds.
