Ola Lemanowicz

Ola is currently a second year student at UBC Faculty of Medicine and works part-time at BC Ambulance Dispatch, answering medical 911 calls. She completed her Bachelor of Life Sciences at Queen’s University before returning to her home province of BC. In her free time, Ola enjoys reading, doing yoga and competing in hackathons.

Ryan Chan

Ryan is a fourth year student specializing in Cellular, Anatomical, and Physiological Sciences at the University of British Columbia. He is currently completing his co-op placement at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute studying the outcomes of traumatic brain injury. In his free time, Ryan enjoys cooking, hiking, learning languages, and playing the piano and guitar.

Sarah Nolin is starting her third year at the University of British Columbia, taking international relations and gender, race and, social justice studies. She spends her free time surfing on Vancouver Island and skiing or hiking in the Rocky Mountains.

Caris Tin is currently entering her second year at the University of British Columbia in the Faculty of Science. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors by skiing, snowboarding, hiking and going on picnics.

Collin Wang is currently enrolled in McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management as a first-year commerce student. He is an avid debater and hockey player, in addition to being a self-confessed foodie.

Vitoria M. Olyntho has recently started her first year at McMaster University as a Health Sciences student. She is a mental health advocate, enjoys skiing, and loves public speaking and debate.

Janice Wu is a third year student majoring in computer science at the University of British Columbia. She enjoys baking bread, creating artwork and drinking iced coffee.

Arnima Singh is ecstatic to begin at the University of British Columbia in the Faculty of Science. During her free time, she can be found spending a large amount of her time at aesthetic cafes studying, a pretext for justifying an unhealthy amount of coffee.

Nicole Chu is a first year student at the University of Ottawa, majoring in Biomedical Science. Nicole loves to dance and bake in her free time. She also owns a chihuahua dog called Jiji.

Ibreez Asaria

Ibreez is a first-year student completing a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree at McMaster University. Having served as the 2019-2020 Co-Plenary Director of OMS in Vancouver, Ibreez is grateful to have an opportunity to build off his experiences as the City Mentor for the Toronto Team. In his free time, Ibreez enjoys watching crime documentaries and crafting ceramics.

Seniru Ruwanpura

Seniru is a first year student at the University of Calgary studying engineering as a Seymour Schulich scholar, and is the outgoing OMS Calgary president. Seniru’s external passions that he hopes to bring to the medical field include advocacy efforts and entrepreneurship, and in his free time, he mainly enjoys Netflix, reading, tickling the ivories or golfing.

Tanvir is a second year student at the University of Saskatchewan studying microbiology and immunology. When she isn’t studying for classes with the energy provided to her by cups of Tim’s iced coffee, Tanvir enjoys watching Netflix, eating ice cream, and spending time with her family!

Amelie Warneryd is a freshman studying neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania, and she is excited to work with OMS for a fourth consecutive year. She hopes to pursue a career in emergency medicine.

Maya Kennedy

Having served previously as Financial Director, Maya was drawn to OMS for the opportunity to combine medical sciences with the power of connection. As a senior at Kitsilano Secondary, she plans to one day connect with patients as a physician.

Joining OMS this year, Kaya was eager to form lasting bonds in the path to careers in health science. As a grade 11 student at Southridge School, Kaya is combining her interests in science and the humanities in hopes of being engaged in the development of health policy in the future.

A senior at St. George’s School, Shane has always had an interest in STEM and health sciences. He decided to join OMS in an effort to inspire youth while developing new skills and hopefully friendships.

Kathy was inspired to pursue a career in health after attending an OMS conference in 2019. Ever since, she has grown to appreciate the newfound passions, invaluable skills, and lifelong friendships formed since that conference.

A senior at Meadowridge School, Noah has seen first-hand the impact OMS has in inspiring students to pursue a career in health sciences. Noah hopes to one-day pursue a career in public health and medicine, specifically oncology.

Ashley committed to the OMS team because being part of an organization that increases the accessibility to careers in the healthcare industry brings her fulfillment and happiness. A grade 11 student at Churchill Secondary School in the International Baccalaureate Program, Ashley plans to eventually become a pediatric nurse.

Dennis is looking forward to broadening his views on medicine and helping OMS this year. A senior at Southridge School, Dennis plans to study movement science and hopes to work as an athlete therapist in the future.

Kanas Leung

Serving as an ambassador in 2020, Kanas was drawn to OMS to combine her passions for science and business. Beyond OMS, Kanas is usually found powerlifting, oil painting, or training to become a hot yoga instructor.

Natasha Trehan is a grade 12 student enrolled in the Unionville High School Vocal Program. Natasha is interested in pursuing a career in the medical field and enjoys singing in her free time! Natasha is extremely excited to be this year’s OMS’ President and is looking forward to a fantastic conference.

Bilal is a grade 12 IB student at Erindale Secondary School. He’s passionate about genomics and the applications of biomedical sciences. He has competed in UofT research competitions and co-created a digital health monitoring project that was part of the DMZ incubator. On the side, Bilal has an interest in the financial markets and enjoys a game of cricket.

In the future, Rahul wants to become a pediatric surgeon. He would also love to travel to Seoul and explore the world.

Sarah Sait

Sarah is a grade 12 partial IB student at Western Canada High School. Over the years she has worked independently on projects in Social Sciences and Neurosciences – finding connections between human behaviour and health led to her interest in Health Sciences. When she is not researching you can find her reading, writing and volunteering.

Stephen Thomas is a grade 11 student at Westmount Charter School in Calgary. He is passionate about the sciences and is dedicated to utilizing his skills to develop the scientific community. He is a young member of the New York Academy of Sciences due to his development of a COVID-19 testing kit, is attending Shad Canada, and coordinates multiple other youth initiatives.

Parthiv is a grade 12 student at Westmount Charter School in Calgary. He is involved in his school and community through various activities regarding STEM, including health research, FIRST robotics and volunteering! He has goals to pursue medicine in the future.

SiChen is a hopeful grade 10 IB candidate at Sir Winston Churchill High School. Although clumsy at times, she is determined to do things right, learn all she can about medicine, and explore her possible fields of interest. When she is not busy elevating her knowledge, you can find SiChen reading, playing piano, and participating in sports and debate.

Sraddha Uppili is a grade 11 student at Westmount Charter School, and is this year’s Logistics Director. She is also an air cadet at 918 RCACS and is a part of a robotics team, FRC 4604. She aspires to become a biomedical engineer in the future.

Cynthia Li is currently a grade 11 student at Western Canada High School. She is deeply interested in the applications of science in criminal law. Some of her other hobbies include graphic design, debate, and sports. She is this years visual director.

From conducting biomedical research to actively participating and hosting science competitions, Parthiv is an avid representer of the STEM field. With his second year on the team, he hopes to not only help the conference run successfully, but also encourage students to pursue their future medical aspirations without hardship.

Ankita Chaturvedi is a grade 11 student at Sir Winston Churchill High School. She is passionate about a future in medical field, more specifically becoming a surgeon. Her interests include: debate, model UN, volunteering, ballet and reading.

Vaishu Koduri is a grade 12 IB diploma student at Sir Winston Churchill High School and this year’s publicity director. She is interested in clinical medicine and journalism and while she’s doing everything in her power to make positive change in her community now, Vaishu aspires to become a practicing physician and eventually work in healthcare policy.

She enjoys volunteering within her community (and those abroad), which is significantly evident through her involvement with MEDLIFE. This is her second year with OMS, as she was previously the Co-Logistics Director for Ottawa.

Neeharika Boni Bangari is a grade 12 student at Longfields-Davidson Heights Secondary School. She enjoys all sports, especially volleyball and track. As well as being a certified swim instructor and lifeguard, her interests also include robotics and playing piano.

Soumiya Sivasathiyanathan is a senior at Colonel By Secondary School and is really passionate about brain-computer interface development and neuroscience, especially catered towards optimizing for women. She does kickboxing, plays a variety of instruments like piano, guitar, and drums, and loves trying new things on the side!

Vanie Tran is a senior at Collège catholique Franco-Ouest and has previously served as her school’s very first OMS ambassador. She is an avid bubble tea indulger and literature enthusiast of all works, particularly French classics such as L’Étranger by Albert Camus and Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand.
